Welcome to the official website for (allsvenska) Swedish Premier League club GIF Sundsvall. The Sundsvall team nicknamed "Giffarna" managed to take the important step to reach the Allsvenskan after winning Division 1 in 1999.

The club has participated in Allsvenskan in 1965, 1975, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2000, 2001, 2002.
The season 2000 was the club´s first in Allsvenskan for 9 long years. Results last seasons:

In 2002 the new arena, Idrottsparken, was (finally!) completed hosting 8700 spectators.

The club was founded in 1903 meaning that In 2003 the club is about to celebrate it´s 100th anniversary.

The most famous player ever to play for GIF Sundsvall is Tomas Brolin, world cup hero and all star team player of the Swedish National team of 1994.

Other famous players are: Anders Grönhagen, legendary keeper Ronnie Hellström (1 game representing GIF) Kahka Thadadze, Michael Brundin, Håkan Sandberg, Jukka Ikkäläinen, Tommy Bergersen, Marko Tuomela and Gunnar Samuelsson.

Another cool fact is that, former heavy weight wrestling world champion Frank Andersson has represented GIF Sundsvall.

Among the foreign teams which have played friendly games vs GIF Sundsvall in Sundsvall are worth mentioning: Liverpool, Wolverhampton, West Ham, Celtic, Watford, Sheffield United, and Ipswich, Rosenborg.

Before the game & how to get to the arena



If you arrive from abroad in Stockholm you can travel north to Sundsvall by car (4-5 hours, 400 km), by high speed train (3 hours) or by bus (5-6 hours) or by air (45 minutes). Buses are for sure the cheapest alternative but also the most uncomfortable option.

Before the home games, fans always get together at the O´learys sport´s bar in Sundsvall 2 hours before kick off.

The bar is located right in the middle of town at Storgatan and only about 300 meters away from the arena. The stadium has a capacity to serve 8700 attendants and it is very well situated in the heart of Sundsvall. You can buy your tickets by contacting GIF Sundsvall.
